The first step to acclimate to Cusco’s altitude
We pick you up from your hotel to drive 30 minutes to the first archeological site.
Sacsayhuaman: Majestic construction built on megalithic engraved stones around the XV century, the site has structures of up to 125 tons of weight, it extends over an area of more than 3 thousand hectares, on a hill surrounded by mountains with beautiful landscapes.
Qenqo: You will be able to see an amphitheater with carved path leading underground galleries used for sacrifices, and also an ancient astronomical observatory
Puca Pucara (reddish fortress): A rest spot that provided shelter and food. This a construction that rather than modifying the surface on which it was built, adapted to the landscape by building three irregular parallel platforms
We will visit the largest and most beautiful llama zoo on a private tour. Here, you’ll have the chance to stroll and take selfies with fascinating Andean camels such as llamas, alpacas, huanacos, and vicuñas. We’ll also learn how to differentiate these species of Andean camelids. Additionally, there’s an exhibition of colorful textiles handmade from their wool.
Tambomachay (Temple of Water): Located at 12,140 ft/3,700 m that was a worshipping center for the cult of water this construction was primed limestone in polygonal style. Tradition knows this monument as “El Baño de la Ñusta” (the place where the princess took bath) due to the existence of two aqueducts that carry crystal clear spring water all year round.
