Journey Itinerary: Cusco – Inca Trail – Machu Picchu
Our journey commences early at 04:15 am, departing from Cusco to embrace the short Inca Trail 1 Day hike. The initial leg of our journey involves a drive to the Ollanta Tambo station, where we’ll board the Expedition train. After approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, we’ll arrive at kilometer 104, the starting point of our trek on the Inca Trail. A brief stop at the checkpoint allows for passport verification and a final chance to purchase water before we embark on the trail.
As we traverse the original pathway of the Inca Trail, we’ll be surrounded by the diverse flora and fauna emblematic of the Andes’ stunning landscapes. The trail ascends from the Sacred Valley, winding through historic sites like Chachabamba and Winaywayna, showcasing the incredible engineering of the Inca civilization. Our journey includes a lunch break at the scenic Wiñaywayna campground, offering picturesque views as you refuel.
Note: The box lunch is given at the beginning of the trip that is carried by yourself.
The Climactic Approach to Machu Picchu
The final stretch of our hike is a tranquil walk through the lush cloud forest encircling Machu Picchu Mountain, leading us to the iconic Sun Gate.
